Volunteer Coordinators keep the volunteer lists up to date, help schedule and plan volunteer training events, assist in recruiting volunteers, manage volunteers.
This volunteer stays with a teacher during the morning academic rotations. The shift time is from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Duties include doing errands for teacher, relieving teacher for bathroom breaks, helping make teaching aids, assisting students during class, monitoring students during work times.
PACES Supervisors and Genius Hour Learning Buddies work in the afternoon during our Accelerated Christian Education hour and Interactive Learning time. The duties include supervising students during the independent study time.
Another duty is a Genius Hour Learning Buddy. After PACES the students go to Genius Hour, which is an interactive and hands-on learning activity (arts and crafts, science, history, dance etc.) Learning buddies help supervise the children during this activity, serve their snack, and help them get ready to go home. After children leave at 3:00 these volunteers assist in cleanup and getting ready for the next day.
The resource room aide is responsible for keeping the resource room organized. He or she also signs out resources to the teachers and keeps the signup list up to date. Resource room aide helps with sorting and putting away new donations and keeps the inventory list up to date on the computer.
The Birthday Party Planners are responsible for planning monthly birthday celebrations for Little Light students. These are held on the last Friday of each month. The Birthday Party Planners are responsible for wrapping the gifts for the boys/girls, buying the refreshments and prizes (they will be reimbursed), decorating the assembly room, serving the refreshments, running the games, and cleanup.
Special Events Aides help set up and decorate for seasonal programs, Point of Entry fundraising events, and any other special event that we have. Special Event Aides also tear down and clean up after the event.
Building and Grounds volunteers clean and prepare flower beds for student planting in August and May. They also clean the playground and fort area and re mulch the fort playground area.
Weekly grounds volunteers assist with mowing and weed-eating the grounds.
Librarians look over new book donations, catalog and process books, weed the collection, and plan twice yearly book fairs.
Handyman volunteers do odd jobs around the school such as changing light bulbs, putting together desks and other furniture, hanging pencil sharpeners and pictures and other light maintenance work.
Photographers serve during the course of the school year to photograph special events, take photos for social media, and also take school pictures for our students. Photographers also take pictures for marketing purposes and help keep the photos on the website up to date.
Social Media Volunteers help plan the social media strategy under the direction of the Director of LLCS, post photos provided by the school, and do twice daily posts to social media. They also plan special online social events and promotions.
Shopping Assistants do our weekly grocery and supply shopping at Sam’s, Wal Mart, Office Depot and other area stores as needed.
Cleaning Assistants mop the school hallways and do the final touch up cleaning.
Summer Cleaning Assistants work as a team under the guidance of our housekeeper. Summer Cleaning Assistants do annual deep cleaning chores such as cleaning windows, desks, baseboards, organizing and cleaning cabinets and shelves, sanitizing toys, etc.
Little Light Ministries is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization. Little Light Christian School is an LLC under the Little Light Ministries umbrella. The Board of Directors consists of 9 directors which we are trying to build up to 15. The Founder of Little Light Ministries is Ms. Robin Khoury. Ms. Khoury also serves as the Principal of Little Light Christian School, LLC.
